The textile patterns for textiles on the theme of the Silk Road were designed by students on the Digital Design and Printing and Textile Design programmes at FSUM. Their designs are inspired by the life cycle of silkworms, cocoons, mulberry leaves and fruits. Visual aids were also developed as part of the project to illustrate the stages of mulberry cultivation and silk production. The resulting patterns range from precise geometric repetitions in neutral tones to expressive organic compositions in vibrant colours and textures.
By combining historical knowledge and digital techniques, the students have developed creative textile solutions that are suitable for both fashion and interior design, contributing to the preservation and reinterpretation of the heritage of silk production.
A number of different patterns were created, following the principles of visual order – from strict geometric and repetitive motifs in neutral and restrained colour schemes to more relaxed compositions with organic shapes in rich textural and colourful interpretations of the theme. Through their participation in the project, the students are helping to preserve and revitalise the knowledge and memory of sericulture. As part of their studies, they have combined this heritage with digital textile pattern design for various purposes. The result is a series of creative solutions for textiles intended for both fashion and interior design.
